Bulkheads

Bulkheads are the walls that define the hatches of your kayak. The manufacturer chooses the most suitable material for their boats’ bulkheads. Fibreglass, closed cell foam or ABS bulkheads are the most common.

It’s important that bulkheads are properly attached and sealed because the waterproof and airtight compartments provide positive flotation in a capsize scenario, enabling an effective rescue and a safe return to shore.

Not sure if the bulkheads in your kayak are up to task? We provide water testing to check for leaky bulkheads and can re-attach and/or re-seal them as needed.
